Women's Health Continence Service

Our Physiotherapist Ellen offers specialist continence physiotherapy for the prevention and management of urinary incontinence or pelvic floor dysfunction. Ellen is a qualified physiotherapist and POGP trained. She can help you with a range of conditions including…

  • Urinary continence issues (including bladder prolapse)
  • Pelvic girdle pain
  • Post-surgery support and advice

Although these conditions can often occur following pregnancy and childbirth, a loss of bladder control can also happen to anyone as a culmination of constipation, heavy lifting, obesity, high impact sports, ageing, menopause, genetics or pelvic surgery.

Ellen can equip you with the knowledge, skills, and support necessary to manage, treat, and resolve continence problems.

Research shows that with the correct physiotherapy input, most patients with Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) can expect a resolution of symptoms

Loss of bladder control does not need to be tolerated or suffered, as specialist continence physiotherapy can usually help, and a medical referral is not always required.

During your initial consultation you will be able to discuss your difficulties and the results you would like to achieve

Ellen will also provide a vaginal examination to assess your pelvic floor and to ensure you are comfortably able to perform exercises, before discussing your own personalised exercise programme.

Initial consultation appointments are 55 mins and we would request you wear comfortable, loose clothing for the purposes of the assessment.
